James Hill

James Hill came to the firm in 1981 from the US Attorneys Office where he had practiced as a trial attorney for five years. A 1974 law school graduate he served a two year federal court clerkship before becoming an Assistant US Attorney.

He has been Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1994. His trial practice is in areas of professional malpractice defense, product liability, insurance defense, business torts and railroad litigation.

A past President of the ND Bar Association he presently serves the Association in the House of Delegates of the ABA. He is a past recipient of the American Inns of Court Award for Professionalism for the Eighth Circuit and of the SBAND Distinguished Service Award.

Jim and his wife, Charlotte, a high school librarian, have one child, Sarah, who attends Harvard Medical School. Boston is their favorite travel destination.
